I recently wrote a piece about why people are obsessed with the end of the world. You see that it is largely those people who are "killing us". They fear death and it makes them insane. Ernest Becker talked about the psychosis that comes from mortality salience--the acceptance that we all will die. An offshoot of his work is terror management theory, which posits that almost everything that most humans do is to manage the terror they feel at knowing they cooked. Looking at everything going on in our society, all I see is scared people afraid to die so they kill because when it happens to someone else their broken brains tell them that it somehow keeps it further from them.

Very good analysis of our current situation. My hope is that we will come to our senses before the worst fears become reality. That said, I voted for Donald Trump and would do so again. Not because I am a right wing MAGA zealot but because the democrats have forced him upon us. I live in a large blue city that I love very much. But it breaks my heart to watch people stroll out the door without paying for their goods. I witnessed this while I was standing in line at the checkout. I asked the security guard about it and he just shrugged. I understand some folks are poor but this person put everything into a late model Honda minivan. Our DA is proud of his record but I rate him a failure. The other issue I see is the open border policy. How many countries are in the world? 160+? Not one permitted anyone to cross their border like the US did under the last administration. I could not fathom it unless one was deliberately trying to accomplish something….”negative”. Lastly, I am saddened because my father was a union delegate for many years. He raised us all to be suspicious of big corporations. The democratic party he raised us in is long gone I’m afraid. Perhaps if I lived in some upper middle class suburban neighborhood instead of my beloved big city, I would wholeheartedly embrace your positions. Thank you for allowing me to express my opinion.
